A rumor was circulating on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Sunday morning regarding San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk supposedly requesting a trade from the team.

While there's been plenty of speculation this offseason about where Aiyuk could end up, his agent Ryan Williams of Athletes First quickly shut down this specific rumor on Sunday only a few hours after it was posted.

Williams simply replied "You need better sources" to the self titled NFL insider John Frascella, who started the rumor. So, it doesn't seem like Aiyuk requested a trade from the 49ers based on this response.

This social media stir came only a few days after Aiyuk seemingly unfollowed the 49ers on Instagram. Before that, back in February after San Francisco lost Super Bowl LVIII to the Kansas City Chiefs, Aiyuk posted a cryptic Instagram story stating “Don’t forget what got you there."

Aiyuk is entering the final year of his rookie contract with the 49ers on a fifth-year option before he becomes an unrestricted free agent in 2025.
