49ers Embarrass and Expose the Cowboys in 42-10 Win

The 49ers completely put the Cowboys in the corner like a parent would to a troubling child.

It was supposed to be a competitive matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys. After the way the two teams battled a tough one in the playoffs last year, this game was bound to be that as well. They are two of the best teams in the NFC after all.

However, it was nothing close to it. The 49ers embarrassed and exposed the Cowboys to easily win 42-10. What the 49ers did to the Cowboys is something that I am not sure they'll recover from. They completely put the Cowboys in the corner like a parent would to a troubling child. Dallas looks so exposed and vulnerable now after this. The 49ers proved that Dallas benefitted facing weak opponents, while the 49ers proved that they were elite all along.

Not like the 49ers really needed to convince anyone, but facing the Cowboys was their first real test of the season. And boy, did they pass this test with flying colors. The 49ers have to be considered the best team, not only in the NFC, but in the NFL as they remain undefeated at 5-0. Every facet of this team is playing at a stalwart level. It's almost like the 49ers are entering a cheat code before they take the field every game. That is how phenomenal they are playing right now.

It all starts with the offense. They are truly the greatest strength of the 49ers this season. They went out against a premier defense and put up 42 points, which is another outing where they scored at least 30 or more. Much of that is thanks to the execution of Brock Purdy. He completed 17-of-24 passes for 252 yards, four touchdowns, and zero interceptions. Purdy has not thrown an interception since Week 17 of last season against the Raiders. He does NOT acknowledge anyone not wearing a 49ers uniform.

What Purdy gives the 49ers offense is optimization. He knows where to go with the football even if the first read isn't there. If pressure is in his face, he doesn't panic. He'll just scramble/rollout and find the open receiver like he did on his first touchdown pass of the game to George Kittle. Best part of all is he is not afraid to throw for over 10 yards. That was the issue so much with previous 49ers quarterbacks under Kyle Shanahan. All of these traits allow the 49ers offense to play to their potential.

Because of Purdy, you get Brandon Aiyuk playing like a top-10 receiver. You get Kittle tallying a hat trick (3) for touchdowns. You get Christian McCaffrey not having to constantly face an overloaded line of scrimmage with defenders. You get Deebo Samuel finding stretches to make an impact along with the supporting cast. This offense is electrifying and so fun to watch. It is practically shocking to see them ever punt now.

Now, that isn't to say the 49ers defense is bad. They are definitely still a premier side and played a huge role in embarrassing the Cowboys tonight, especially Fred Warner. He registered a pick, a sack, and a forced fumble against Dallas. What can't he do? So, of course, the defense is still mighty. But in 2023, the strength of the 49ers is the offense. And that is probably for the best.

For years, the 49ers have had massive success, but can never win the Super Bowl with the defense as its strength. Maybe this change in having the offense as the strength is what they need to win it all. Because right now, I don't see anyone knocking the 49ers off. There is still a ton of season left to be played, so a lot of things can happen and change. But it's going to be extremely difficult for any real detrimental change to occur anytime soon.

The 49ers will ride this momentum of being undefeated into Week 6 when they face the Cleveland Browns who are coming off a bye week.
