Brock Purdy No Longer is the MVP Front-Runner
That didn't last long.
After destroying the Eagles in Philadelphia, Brock Purdy was the MVP front-runner for one whole week. And now after thoroughly beating the Seattle Seahawks and passing for a career-high 368 yards, Purdy has only the second-best odds to win the MVP Award according to BetUS.
That's because Dak Prescott suddenly is the MVP front-runner.
And why is Prescott the front-runner? A couple reasons: He just destroyed the Eagles as well, and he plays for the Cowboys, who get way too much attention. If he played for any other team, he probably wouldn't be the favorite to win this award or a household name. But he plays for the Cowboys, so we're all on a first-name basis with him.
Purdy currently leads the league with a quarterback rating of 116.9. while Prescott's rating is 107.5. That's a significant gap. But Prescott has 28 touchdown passes and 6 interceptions while Purdy has 25 TD passes and 7 picks. Plus Prescott plays for Mike McCarthy, who isn't exactly cutting edge when it comes to offensive play design and play calling, while Purdy plays for Kyle Shanahan, one of the top offensive minds in football.
In addition, Prescott plays with CeeDee Lamb and a bunch of solid weapons, while Purdy plays with five elite weapons at all times.
You could argue that Prescott has a more difficult job than Purdy, and that's why Prescott should win the MVP. Perhaps that's why he's the odds-on favorite to win the award. That. or it's because he plays for the Cowboys.
