49ers vs. Buccaneers Week 11 Live Blog

Can the 49ers win two in a row?
In this story:

SANTA CLARA -- This is the live blog of the 49ers' Week 11 home game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This will be updated frequently with information and analysis from the press box.

11:37 Here are the 49ers' inactives: Aaron Banks, Ty Davis-Price, Jalen Graham, Kalia Davis, Brayden Willis and Brandon Allen. This means rookie cornerback Darrell Luter Jr. will make his NFL debut. Luter spent training camp, preseason and the first 10 weeks of the regular season on the Physically Unable to Perform List due to a knee injury he suffered in minicamp. The 49ers drafted him to play press man-to-man coverage on the outside -- exactly what Ambry Thomas does right now. Defensive coordinator Steve Wilks must decide which cornerback he wants to play, because that player will have to face Mike Evans, one of the best wide receivers in the NFL. It's possible the 49ers activated Luter for this game because they want him and not Thomas to cover Evans, although that would seem to be a lot to ask of a rookie cornerback who missed all of training camp in his first career game. Most likely, he will play special teams and back up Thomas. But if Thomas struggles, as he often does, Luter could be the next man up.

11:41 The Buccaneers have an excellent wide receiver and a good offensive line, but they don't have enough to compete with the 49ers. As long as the 49ers play up to their standard, they should steamroll the Buccaneers.

FINAL SCORE PREDICTION: 49ers 31, Buccaneers 13.

1:05 The 49ers will receive the opening kickoff.

FIRST QUARTER

1:09 On 3rd and 8 from the 49ers 45, Lavonte David sacks Brock Purdy for a loss of 11. After the punt, the Buccaneers take over at their 37 due to a penalty by George Odum for fair catch interference.

1:14 On 3rd and 7 from the Bucs 40, Baker Mayfield throws an incomplete deep pass intended for Rakim Jarrett, and the Bucs go 3 and out. Deommodore Lenoir almost intercepted Mayfield on the first play of the drive. After the punt, the 49ers take over at their 20.

1:30 On 2nd and goal from the 3, Purdy throws a touchdown pass to a wide open Christian McCaffrey. Purdy and Shanahan have done a good getting McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, George Kittle and Brandon Aiyuk all involved early.

49ers 7, Buccaneers 0.

SECOND QUARTER

1:45 On 1st and 5 from the 49ers 33, Baker Mayfield scrambles, Fred Warner strips the ball from him and Clelin Ferrell recovers at the 34. What a clutch play by defense that had made a ton of them the past two games.

1:53 On 2nd and 7 from the Bucs 19, Purdy takes his second sack of the game. Two plays later, Jake Moody makes a 36-yard field goal. Elijah Mitchell had four carries for 24 yards on that drive. In my face.

49ers 10, Buccaneers 0.

2:06 On 1st and 10 from the 49ers 36, Arik Armstead sacks Mayfield for a loss of 10. But on the next three plays, the 49ers give up a 27-yard catch to Cade Otten, a 17-yard run to Deven Thompkins and a one-yard touchdown catch to Mike Evans, who beat Ambry Thomas on the play. The 49ers defense folded after a big play.

49ers 10, Buccaneers 7.

2:16 On 3rd and 3 from the Buccaners 10, Purdy throws the ball away. Next play, Jake Moody makes a 28-yard field goal with 20 seconds left. Remember, the Buccaneers will get the ball to start the second half. The 49ers have way too much talent to let Tampa hang around like this.

49ers 13, Buccaneers 7.

THIRD QUARTER

2:36 On 3rd and 3 from the Bucs 42, Charvarius Ward breaks up a deep pass intended for Trey Palmer. Great play by Ward, who hasn't made many of those lately. Next play, the Bucs punt and pin the 49ers at their 2-yard line.

2:42 On 1st and 10 from the 49ers 24, Brandon Aiyuk burns Jamel Deean for a 76-yard touchdown catch. Aiyuk just ran right by him up the left sideline. Aiyuk has 5 catches for 154 yards and 1 touchdown. Best game of his career. He's becoming an elite wide receiver.

49ers 20, Buccaneers 7.

2:53 On 3rd and 9 from the Bucs 34, Dre Greenlaw nearly intercepts the pass from Mayfield. After the punt, the 49ers take over at their 21. Talanoa Hufanga injured himself trying to make a tackle during the drive. He's in the medical tent.

3:03 Talanoa Hufanga injured his knee and is out for the rest of the game. Rookie Ji'Ayir Brown will take his place.

3:05 On 2nd and goal from the 3, Purdy throws a touchdown pass to a wide open George Kittle. Purdy now has 3 TD passes, 315 passing yards and a perfect 158.3 passer rating. He never has trailed in this game.

49ers 27, Buccaneers 7.

FOURTH QUARTER

3:15 On 1st and 10 from the Bucs 36, Ji'Ayir Brown gives up a 41-yard catch to Rakim Jarrett. Next play, Fred Warner commits pass interfernce in the end zone. Next play, Rachaad White runs into the end zone from one yard out. That was quick.

49ers 27, Buccaneers 14.

3:24 On 3rd and 7 from the 49ers 33, Purdy overthrows Aiyuk downfield, and the 49ers go 3 and out. After the punt, the Buccaneers take over at their 20 with 12:25 left.

3:38 On 4th and 4 from the 49ers 12, Brown breaks up a pop fly intended for Mike Evans in the end zone, and the Bucs turn it over on downs.

3:40 On 3rd and 19, McCaffrey runs for 12 yards. After the punt and a 51-yard return, the Bucs take over at the 49ers 13.

3:45 On 3rd and 6 from the 9, Brown intercepts a tipped pass in the end zone, and the 49ers will win. Stay tuned for their grades.
