How Christian McCaffrey can Win the NFL MVP Award

A lot of what the 49ers do on offense cannot be effective without Christian McCaffrey.

There is a rare occurrence that is taking place on the San Francisco 49ers.

Two players on the team are being considered as NFL MVP candidates. Brock Purdy is the one gaining the most recognition for it, which is typical for a quarterback. That is why he is currently the betting favorite. Christian McCaffrey is the other player being considered as an MVP this season and it is more than well deserved.

What he does for the 49ers offense cannot be overstated. The fact that defenses know he is going to be heavily involved only makes it more impressive with how he is producing. It is more than what he does with the ball in his hands. He has a major influence without it as well by forcing defenses to pay close attention to him. Simple motions from him always have a defense on high alert.

A lot of what the 49ers do on offense cannot be effective without him. I do not foresee McCaffrey winning the MVP award despite there being a great case for him. How McCaffrey can win it this year is by using the final three games of the season to have incredible numbers with the 49ers clinching the No. 1 seed. McCaffrey can't simply have the numbers in yards and touchdowns either. He needs to have several highlight plays a game, if not more, to increase the buzz around him.

Otherwise, the award is likely going to go to Purdy. All Purdy has to do is play average the rest of the way with the 49ers winning the No. 1 seed. McCaffrey NEEDS to keep having monstrous games with a handful of plays that gets people constantly raving about, so that he can take the steam away from Purdy and others for MVP. Given how phenomenal of a talent he is, it's not out of the realm of possibility. But the odds just do not play in his favor.

He will probably end up with the Offensive Player of the Year award, while Purdy gets the MVP award.
