San Francisco 49ers' head coach Kyle Shanahan is known for being an intelligent and innovated offensive coach. However, it isn't just strictly all his ideas that go into his game planning and coaching. Shanahan revealed to bay area radio station KNBR that he follows tape of plenty of other coaches, but that there is one coach he routinely follows.

That coach is none other than New England Patriots' own Bill Belichick. “I watch other people every week,” Shanahan said. “A guy like Belichick… that’s a team I watch almost every Monday.”per his KNBR interview.

This is actually a very smart way to grow as a coach for Kyle Shanahan. In fact, many coaches in the league right now would be wise to do the same. Belichick is the greatest head coach of all time. Studying his film would only increase a coach's intellect and reveal to them new ways of how to approach or scheme a game.

Even upcoming coaches should try to study Bill Belichick's film. It'll only benefit them to soak in all that knowledge since Belichick himself wouldn't reveal how he plans. That is why so many teams have hired people who have worked for Belichick as their head coach. Matt Patricia, Brian Flores, Mike Vrabel and Bill O'Brien are disciples of Belichick currently leading teams.

They are hired because of the hope that some of the intellect and prestige that Belichick has is instilled into these guys. I mean that is an insane amount of head coaching opportunities. They practically fill up an entire division since their are four of them and that is just the ones that are currently active.

Shanahan studying film of the Patriots is just another reason as to why he is a great coach. Most coaches are ego driven and stubborn to change. They would rather continue doing what they want than adapt. Shanahan is a sponge who is trying to take in as much knowledge to be a complete coach.

He already does a great job with his approach for game planning and adapting in the middle of a game, but there is always room for improvement. Even at 3-0 on a bye week, Shanahan is most likely already prepping for the Cleveland Browns and so on. The San Francisco 49ers got a good one in Kyle Shanahan.
