Report: 49ers' TE George Kittle Will Not Miss Time for Minor Knee Injury
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network has reported that 49ers' tight end George Kittle's "knee is good" and that it was just a minor ailment. He will not be expected to miss any time this season due to it and is expected to play in week 10 against the Seattle Seahawks.
Kittle suffered a knee injury on a play where a player backed into him and caused his knee to buckle. He missed very little playing time on Thursday night as he showed his toughness in the 28-25 win over the Arizona Cardinals.
This is fantastic news for the San Francisco 49ers who needed something to uplift their spirits a bit. Linebacker Kwon Alexander was ruled out for the remainder of the season with a torn pectoral muscle. Had Kittle joined him on missing the season it would have been salt in the wound.
Luckily for the 49ers and Kittle, he sounds like he will be fine as the season progresses. The 49ers could not have afforded to lose Kittle. As huge of a blow the loss of Alexander was, Kittle's loss would have been exponentially worse. What he does for the 49ers' offense cannot be understated.
Kittle is a workhorse for Kyle Shanahan from his impact blocking to his flawless work as a receiver. There should be no doubt now that Kittle is the best tight end in the game. Against the Cardinals on Thursday night, he once again showed us why he should be viewed as such. Breathe easy 49er faithful. Kittle's injury is not a serious one and should be good to go when the Seahawks visit Levi's Stadium on Monday night.
