Why 49ers Always Wear Their 1994 Throwback Uniforms in Seattle

Ever since 2019, the 49ers have always worn those amazing uniforms in Seattle.

Look good, play good.

That is a fairly common motto in sports, and that is exactly what the San Francisco 49ers are following when they play the Seattle Seahawks tomorrow on Thanksgiving. The 49ers are set to wear their renowned 1994 throwback uniforms when they play the Seahawks at Lumen Field.

Ever since 2019, the 49ers have always worn those amazing uniforms in Seattle. And there is a reason why they have continued to do so since they debuted them. It is because of how that game transpired back in 2019. The 49ers defeated the Seahawks in an epic battle with linebacker Dre Greenlaw having a legendary moment with his touchdown saving tackle at the goal line that would clinch the win.

The 49ers never won on the road against the Seahawks, but in 2019 when they wore their saucy 1994 uniforms, they won in an all-time game for the first time in eight years, and it was a win that earned them the NFC West title along with the No. 1 seed for the playoffs. There is something to say about dressing good and playing good, but there is also superstition as well. Those uniforms have a second meaning now and it is linked to that 2019 game. It's like a kryptonite or good luck charm for the 49ers when they go to Seattle now.

You can look at last season as an example of that. The 49ers won against the Seahawks at Lumen Field on Thursday night football to clinch the NFC West title. There is just something about wearing those uniforms in primetime against the Seahawks and winning. Since 2019, the 49ers are 2-2 in Seattle. While that isn't an impressive record, it is still meaningful considering the 49ers were always getting owned when they played the Seahawks on their turf.

So now every time the 49ers take the field, they can feel a surge of extra confidence and some luck. Now, the 49ers will not be able to clinch the division title this time around when they play, but it is still a significant matchup that can strengthen their hold on the division. I have no doubt that the fresh and crisp look from the 1994 uniforms will help them.
