Justin Fields No. 1 with the Bettors

At least with one sportsbook, Justin Fields leads all NFL QBs with MVP bets.
In this story:

Justin Fields mania has been high but now it's reached the gambling industry.

Either that, or there are an awful lot of Chicago Bears fans who like to bet.

According to PointsBet Sportsbook, Fields is pulling in the bets for MVP to a greater extent than any of the quarterback favorites.

In fact, according to PointsBet, Fields has more bets put on him for MVP than both Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow combined.

It's startling considering Fields ranked in the third tier of quarterbacks according to an assessment of the league's quarterbacks, according to The Athletic.

This isn't fantasy football, where Fields has a QB-6 or QB-7 rating with most analysts because of his ability to both run and pass, even though he still is obviously developing. In real football, mistakes count and they don't mean much in fantasy ball.

Fields as an MVP candidate after he had a passer rating of 85.2 might seem a stretch, but his stats are not totally unlike Jalen Hurts' were for his second year.

Fields has 18.7% of MVP bets according to PointsBet. Hurts is second at 12.3% and Patrick Mahomes third at 9.3%.

Joe Burrow is at 8.2% and Aaron Rodgers at 6.9% with his new team.

Before thinking you woke up today in Bizzaro World, remember this is betting. Bettors want to put money on someone who will bring them a return on their cash.

Despite getting more bets put on him than any other QB, Fields is still only 15-to-1 or +1500 to take MVP.

Mahomes is the betting favorite at 6.5 to 1 and Fields is behind five other QBs: Josh Allen (7-1), Burrow (7.5-1), Hurts and Justin Herbert (10-1) and Lamar Jackson (14-1).
