In these days before free agency begins, interest peaks while real information is scarce.

However, former Bears fullback Jason McKie offered some real information and gave his actual source for it during the ESPN AM-1000 Chicago Bears Podcast.

McKie,  sideline reporter for Bears games on AM-1000 broadcasts, said the Bears have interest in potential Raiders running back Josh Jacobs.

McKie's source is his own agent, who he said also represents Jacobs.

"It ain't no damn source that I made up," McKie said on the podcast.

McKie said Jacobs is a favorite back of his in this free agency class.

"The guy's only 26 years old and he's a do-everything back as well," McKie said. "He's a three-down back, is good out of the backfield."

McKie said he texted his agent and of McKie he said "...he'd look great in a Bears uniform."

The answer McKie said he got was: "And he's like, 'hey, there's mutual interest.' That's what he told me."

The 5-foot-10, 223-pound Jacobs had 1,653 yards rushing in 2022, but in his fifth season last year his numbers took a plunge. He gained 805 yards on 233 carries with six touchdowns, averaging a career low of 3.5 yards a carry.

Jacobs has always been a back who could catch passes. He had 54 receptions in 2021 and 53 in 2022. Last year he made 37 receptions for 296 yards in 13 games. He has gained 5,545 yards on 72 carries and has 197 receptions for 1,448 yards.

The Bears have three backs under contract for 2024 in Khalil Herbert, Roschon Johnson and Travis Homer. But D'Onta Foreman is slated to become  a free agent.
