Return to Indy for Matt Eberflus
Matt Eberflus is going back to Indianapolis.
He'll have the Bears with him, though.
The former Colts defensive coordinator and Bears head coach will be taking his team to practice against his old team, during training camp according to a report by Dan Wiederer of the Tribune. Several of Eberflus' defensive assistants were with him in Indianapolis, as well, including defensive coordinator Alan Williams.
The practices would come prior to the second preseason game as they are scheduled to play that week at Indianapolis. The exact dates and times of preseason games have yet to be set but they do know the opponents and order of the games.
The Colts game would be sometime between Aug. 17 and 19, so the practices just prior to that. The Aug. Bears preseason game at home against Tennessee is the week of Aug. 10-12 and the final one is Aug. 24-26 at home with Buffalo.
Colts training camps are held at Grand Park in Westfield, Ind.
The Bears wanted to have practices against another team at their last camp but the new coaching staff and GM coming in made for hectic days during transition and there wasn't time to set this up.
The Bears hosted a joint practice with Miami during Matt Nagy's final season as head coach.
In other recent years they had done the same with Denver and with New England, although the Patriots venture was highlighted by a brawl.
