Ryan Poles didn't like the top spot on Day 3 of the draft any more than he liked it on Days 1 and 2.

The Bears GM had traded away the top pick in both of the first two days and then did it Sunday. They went back 12 spots and added an extra pick.

The Bears sent the first pick in Round 4, the 103rd pick overall, to New Orleans for the 115th pick in Round 4, the Saints' fifth-round pick, No. 165. T

This gave the Bears two picks in the fourth round (115 and 133), two in the fifth (148 and 165) and also two in the seventh round (218 and 258).

They traded the first pick prior to the draft, and had traded the first pick of the second round before last season even ended without knowing it. They gave their second-round draft pick to Pittsburgh for Chase Claypool at midseason, and the pick wound up being the first one of Round 2.

The top pick in the fourth round is often regarded as coveted because of the break between the end of Round 3 and start to the final four rounds, with the extra time available for GMs to assess the draft board before picking again.

The pick gives the Bears back a fifth-round pick after they gave away the first pick of Round 5 to the Jacksonville Jaguars Friday when they moved up in a trade from 61 overall to 56 to take cornerback Tyrique Stevenson.
