Social Media Battle for Jaquan Brisker

After taking a social media shot at Giants QB Daniel Jones, Bears safety Jaquan Brisker absorbed a few shots himself.

At various times in the past, Bears safety Eddie Jackson has been embroiled in social media controversy.

One such time was a debate with former Bears linebacker Lance Briggs about his hustle on a particular play.

It seems Twitter controversies have moved over to the other Bears starting safety.

After the report of Daniel Jones receiving a four-year, $160 million contract came out Tuesday, Brisker was involved in an exchange about how Lamar Jackson is a former MVP and is not getting the cash he deserves from Baltimore, all while the Giants QB got a big contract.

If Brisker had merely left it at how it seems unfair Jackson gets underpaid, no one could be upset. He took it one step further and took a shot at Jones with a TWeet.

"MVP lol… other Bruh got paid today and is trash fam. #FACTS," Brisker tweeted.

Jackson is a former MVP. That was in 2019 when he led the Ravens to a 13-2 record in his 15 starts. He had a passer rating of 113.3 then, to go with an NFL quarterback rushing record of 1,206 yards.

Since then, his rushing total has dwindled each year and his passer rating the last two year has been at 91.1 and 87.0.

Still, it is true he was an MVP.

Calling Jones "trash," wasn't a good word choice considering what happened when New York hosted the Bears last season.

The Bears were beaten 20-12 in Week 4 and their defense made Jones look a bit like Jackson. Jones scored twice on runs and rushed for 68 yards on six carries. He only threw for 71 yards on 8 of 13 but the Giants still won comfortably.

It came a week after the Bears defense had seen film of Jones running for 79 yards the previous week against the Cowboys. Yet, they still weren't ready for his bootlegs.

Brisker enjoyed a strong rookie season and made the Pro Football Focus All-Rookie Team but the game against Jones and the Giants was definitely not one of his high points. Nor was this tweeting episode.

According to Pro Football Focus grades, he had only two games with lower grades than the 53.0 he had against the Giants. He had a 52.8 at home against Detroit and a 44.3 against Buffalo in December.

The comments elicited plenty of reaction from Giants fans who had optical proof of Brisker being burned by Jones, including a photo of one of the touchdown runs when Brisker was behind the Giants QB.

Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton had the final word. While the tweeting was going on, he simply posted the scoreboard with the final score of the Bears-Giants game.
