Low Madden Ratings Again for Bears

The people with Madden '24 seem to be trying to tell Bears fans something about their team as the low grades are rampant.

Disheartened Bears fans awaited eagerly for the Madden 2024 ratings release, only to find the game thinks of their team like many critics.

The Bears have a long way to go says Madden '24, and this includes Justin Fields.

Fields was given an overall rating of 76 and it made him just the 19th-ranked quarterback in Madden 24. It does put him ahead of QBs like Daniel Jones, Matthew Stafford, Mac Jones and Ryan Tannehill. He's one behind Russell Wilson.

The one area in Madden where Bears/Madden fans had great anticipation for Fields was his speed rating and he was given the second fastest QB speed rating behind Lamar Jackson, which is understandable. Fields has a 93 grade for speed but a 95 grade for acceleration. Jackson ran what was reported as 4.34 seconds in the 40 at a Louisville "speed day." Fields had an official combine time of 4.44 seconds.

Jackson has a 96 for speed and 96 for acceleration in this game.

The only quarterback in the top 30 with a lower awareness rating than Fields has is Baker Mayfield. This is somewhat understandable considering Fields has fumbled 28 times in two seasons.

As for other positions, despite Bears attempts at improvement DJ Moore is only the 23rd receiver on the chart with an overall 86 grade. Tremaine Edmunds was tied for sixth overall for middle linebackers with an 87.

Grades of Bears offensive linemen and running backs were abysmal. In fact, Khalil Herbert might be the most underrated Bears player of all. Both he and D'Onta Foreman both received the same grade at 77, this even though Herbert was the NFL leader in yards per carry last year among backs who had at least 100 carries.

Almost as bad was an offensive line that had no one above Cody Whitehair's 79 grade. Free agent acquisition at guard, Nate Davis, garnered only a 76 and tied for third-best line grade on the team.

What Bears fans need to remember is the grades only reflect what has happened and Madden says its grades are determined by a composite of 43 categories. Rookies are pretty much a guessing game.

If someone needs a more accurate reflection of Fields' skills, just look at his highlight reels.
