Justin Fields Honored in Canton

A piece of Justin Fields' record-setting day is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
In this story:

Bears coach Matt Eberflus is like most NFL coaches and focuses so much on football he is sometimes unaware of the outside world.

On Friday, he was informed Justin Fields' football shoes from the Nov. 6 loss to Miami had arrived in Canton at the Pro Football Hall of Fame because they were worn when Fields ran for the most yards rushing ever by a quarterback, 178 yards.

"I did not know that," Eberflus said. "I didn’t have Twitter so I wouldn’t know."

If things keep going for the tech/media giant the way they have, no one else will have it soon either, so Eberflus shouldn't feel too bad about that.

He definitely was in tune with the decision to put the shoes in Canton.

"That’s pretty cool," Eberflus said. "That’s a record-breaking day. You think about all those years, all that time and all those games that have been played. For him to be able to do that and break an NFL record is pretty cool. It’s a cool deal for him."

Fields actually came within 31 yards of his own record a week later, so you have to wonder if he'll be sending more shoes there in the future.

"I don’t know if he’s ever been to Canton," Eberflus said. "I’ve been there. I love going there. I’ve been there a few times. I’ve played in that game a couple times. It’s always fun to go back there. It’s a special place.”

Perhaps Fields will be reunited with said shoes in Canton some day.
