Bengals, 1972 Dolphins Share Interesting Status Heading Into 2023 NFL Playoffs

Cincinnati is one of the NFL's hottest teams.

CINCINNATI — This year's Bengals and the NFL's only undefeated team have one key attribute in common. 

Cincinnati (eight wins in a row) is one of the hottest teams in the league, just like the 1972 Dolphins were.

According to NFL Research, The only team in league history with a longer winning streak to finish the regular season after losing the previous Super Bowl was the 1972 Dolphins. Miami lost SB VI, went a perfect 14-0, and won the Super Bowl.

That's some good company to be around and is a testament to Cincinnati staving off the "Super Bowl hangover" that hits so many franchises.

A win on Sunday would set a new franchise mark for consecutive wins (nine), and mark the first time that Cincinnati has won a playoff game in back-to-back years.
