Bill Simmons Compares Jake Browning to Young Tom Brady
CINCINNATI — Joe Burrow has seemingly handed the Tom Brady comparison mantle over to Jake Browning.
The Ringer's Bill Simmons compared Browning to the 2001 version of the game's greatest quarterback on The Bill Simmons Podcast this week.
Browning is 3-1 as a starter since taking over for Burrow and has been right up with Brock Purdy among the league's most efficient passers over that span.
"Can I say something that, try not to have a stroke. He reminds me a little of 01' Brady," Simmons said on his show. "Not Tom Brady. The totality of Tom Brady, but 01' Brady. 01' Brady came in and they're like, 'Whose this guy. He does a lot of stuff well, pretty accurate, man. He doesn't really make mistakes. Teammates really like him.' And he just kind of kept game managing and being accurate and just making chicken salad out of chicken s*** for four months."
Browning is meeting that comparison thus far but has a long path to trek before lifting Cincinnati to its first-ever Super Bowl title as Brady did for the Patriots.
