Dax Hill on Rookie Season: 'It Wasn't Ideal For Me, But I Have a Lot of Takeaways'
CINCINNATI — Bengals safety Dax Hill sat down with AllBengals James Rapien on Cincinnati Bengals Talk this week and described how he felt his rookie season went.
The rookie played 14% of the regular-season defensive snaps last year (131) and posted 16 total tackles.
"I didn't really expect it to go the way it was," Hill said. "I'm grateful for it. Just opportunities I had, like you said on special teams. Whenever I was in on defense, I'm appreciative for the things I did do while I was on the field, so it was you know, highs and lows throughout the season. It wasn't ideal for me, but I have a lot of takeaways from my rookie season."
Hill is staying positive as he tracks toward a starting role on defense. A defense he wore plenty of hats as a member of last season.
"That's like the biggest takeaway, that I can take from my rookie season," Hill said about playing in multiple spots. "Being thrown in those different positions allows me to feel more comfortable and allow myself to be more confident and more fluid out there on the field. So I feel like that's like the biggest thing that I feel like, you know, just having a positive mindset about it, because you know, not coming in and not doing it the way you wanted to. You have to find that positivity somewhere."
