DJ Reader On Eric Weddle: 'Feels Good' When Someone Gives You 'No Chance'
CINCINNATI — Bengals defensive tackle DJ Reader had a nice laugh with Kay Adams on Up & Adams this week.
The host had to bring up her interview with former NFL safety Eric Weddle last week, who said the Bengals have "no chance" to beat the Bills in the AFC divisional round.
"Motivation is already free, but it feels good when you see somebody going out there and saying no chance," Reader said about the take. "Those aren't even takes you should have. Like as a person I've never counted just everybody out. I've never even been that type of person."
Reader had a few more playful words for Weddle—who is also a high school football coach. The motivation worked for Reader, who earned the highest PFF grade of any Bengals player in the 27-10 win.
"Appreciate the just zero chance," Reader joked. "I just appreciate that. Amazing player. Amazing career. You got us in the Super Bowl last year. I loved watching you as a kid, especially with the no gloves that was crazy to me but zero chance? You know better than that. Come on, man. We were just back here. Why would you even say that to us like that? You know those are bad takes. You know that's bad locker room talk. You're smarter than that. You wouldn't do that as the head coach at your high school, I know that."
Cincinnati fights Kansas City for a spot in the Super Bowl this Sunday at 6:30 p.m. ET on CBS. The game is available via fuboTV—start your free trial here.
