Former NFL Quarterback Dan Orlovksy Thinks Joe Burrow Can Win NFL MVP If Bengals Make Playoffs

All the numbers are MVP worthy, besides the record.

In this story:

CINCINNATI — ESPN's Dan Orlovsky doesn't see much changing in the NFL MVP race down the stretch unless the Bengals pull off a miracle and make the playoffs.

The former NFL quarterback pondered the scenario on Monday's Get Up program.

"I think if Cincinnati gets in, Joe Burrow absolutely has a case," Orlovsky said. "He's having an unbelievable season. They were 1-5 at some point or 1-4. They play Denver this weekend, who's ahead of them, they beat Denver, that means that they'll play Week 18 versus Pittsburgh and if they beat Pittsburgh, I know they need the Colts and Dolphins (to lose once). If they get in, Joe Burrow can absolutely, have a seat at that table."

Burrow leads all passers in yards (4,229), and passing touchdowns (39), and is third in ESPN's QBR metric (74.3).

He's got an MVP resumé to win the award in most seasons, but it rarely goes to a player outside the top-two seeds in a conference, let alone one that won't win their division. Josh Allen is currently a minus-money betting favorite to win MVP depending on what sportsbook you look at.
