Josh Newton Frames Up And Down Day Against Chicago: 'It's All A Learning Experience'
CINCINNATI — It was a peak and valley game for Bengals rookie Josh Newton Saturday across an outing where the cornerback posted five tackles, one for loss, and one pass breakup.
He also had a deep pass interference penalty that cost Cincinnati points in a 27-3 loss. Still, it was a good learning experience that included the impressive pass deflection against Chicago's first-team offense.
"Up and down. Just be more consistent," Newton said postgame. "It's the league. I'm going up against some of the best athletes in America in this sport. So win some, lose some, but obviously, you want to win more than you lose. But as far as today, it didn't go that way. So back to the drawing board, back to getting with my coaches, getting coached up, move on, and get ready for Indy."
Newton should have another heavy snap allotment as Cincinnati continues working out its cornerback hierarchy.
"It's all a learning experience," Newton declared. "I'm getting used to the refs, how they call, how they see things, too. So, you know, it's all good."
