Kelce Brothers Discuss Orlando Brown Jr. Deal: 'Do You Think The Mayor Helped Recruit Him?'
CINCINNATI — Kansas City Chiefs, tight, and Travis Kelce is not happy that he lost former teammate Orlando Brown Jr. to a new contract with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Kelce discussed the free agency move on his New Heights podcast with his brother Jason this past week.
"It stings," Travis said. "It hurts. It hurts my soul, man. It's like watching your best friend just turn evil on you. Obviously the past, like, two years we've struggled beating the Bengals, so there's been a lot of build-up in emotion of like, I wouldn't say 'hate' but dislike towards the Bengals because they keep beating us and they keep talking about it every time they do. To see him go to the dark side, it's an awkward feeling."
Kelce's team now has to face one of its top leaders from the past few seasons.
"I hope he has an absolute Hall of Fame career. I wish nothing but the best for O.B. He was an unbelievable leader, and unbelievable teammate on and off the field, we have countless memories that I'll f***ing cherish, but him going to the dark side, it's on and poppin', O.B." Kelce said.
The brothers joked that Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval pushed the four-year, $64 million over the finish line. Jason asked if Pureval helped convince Brown to sign.
Pureval came under heavy fire from Chiefs and Bengals fans when his trash-talk before the AFC Championship Game didn't hold up on the field.
"Is he still even the mayor," Travis quipped, "I thought he resigned."
