In this story:

CINCINNATI — The Bengals are wasting Joe Burrow's best NFL season. The numbers are in from Week 8, and Cincinnati's passer now leads all quarterbacks in ESPN's season-long QBR metric (75.5) and total Expected Points Added (54.1).

All in all, Burrow's thrown for 1,996 yards, 15 TDs, and 3 INTs this season.

He's been fantastic, while the majority of his teammates fall short around him. It's a complete failure of the team's best player and echoes thoughts of former Bengals like Carson Palmer, who declared Burrow better off if he played somewhere besides Cincinnati before they drafted him in 2020.

The Bengals are the only team with a top-seven quarterback in ESPN's QBR to have a losing record so far this season. It's hard to lose this much with a quarterback playing this well, but the Bengals' brass is finding new ways to pull it off.
