CINCINNATI — The 33rd Team's NFL insider Ari Meirov echoed another potential "ugly" contract situation for the Bengals as he did earlier in January.

Trey Hendrickson wants a new deal that the Bengals' director of player personnel Duke Tobin acknowledged he's earned. Meirov continued noting that it could get ugly if Cincinnati doesn't pay the 30-year-old pass rusher.

"I'm just gonna make this clear right now if the Bengals don't extend Trey Hendrickson this situation has the potential to get really, really messy," Meirov noted on NFL Spotlight.

The NFL sack leader just posted 17.5 sacks for the second-straight season and is consistently maxing out prime years entering his 30s. Hendrickson is Cincinnati's best defensive player and isn't among the NFL's top-10 paid edge rushers.

Hendrickson's production is no fluke—he also tied for the league lead in quarterback pressures with 83 total during the regular season. It will be interesting to see how Cincinnati approaches things with its best defensive player and a very durable one at that (72/75 games played with the Bengals since arriving in 2021).

Three of the team's top-four players are worthy of new deals this offseason. Check out Meirov's full comments below:
