Sports Illustrated Predicts Bengals Decline Dax Hill's Fifth-Year Option

Cincinnati is changing the defender's position.

CINCINNATI — The Bengals have a decision to make on Dax Hill's fifth-year option next offseason and they don't have him set at a firm position right now.

It's part of why Sports Illustrated's Matt Verderame has the Bengals declining that option.

"Hill was seen to be a versatile chess piece for Cincinnati defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo when taken out of Michigan," Verderame wrote. "And last year, he played almost every defensive snap as a safety before being moved to corner with Geno Stone and Vonn Bell being signed in free agency. If Hill thrives in his new role, it could entice the Bengals to keep him long-term."

It's a big upcoming few months for Hill as he goes back to a position he played a decent amount of at Michigan. Cincinnati's defense could get a major versatility boost if he pops at any of the corner spots.
