CINCINNATI — The Bengals defense is going to have to earn back some respect after a down 2023 for Lou Anarumo's unit. That's evidenced by Sports Illustrated ranking Cincinnati's defensive triplets 25th leaguewide.

Trey Hendrickson, Cam Taylor-Britt, and Logan Wilson slotted last in the AFC North.

"The Bengals got some good news when Hendrickson rescinded his trade request this offseason," Gilberto Manzano wrote. "He’s been one of the most productive edge rushers in the NFL since leaving New Orleans for Cincinnati in 2021. Wilson is another consistent playmaker in Lou Anarumo’s defense, recording 135 total tackles last season. Taylor-Britt, a 2022 second-round pick, could be on the verge of a breakout season after recording four interceptions last year."

The Bengals were one of the NFL's worst defenses last season by yardage allowing 374.6 yards per game (31st), but did clamp down better on the scoreboard (22.6 PPG allowed, 21st).
