The Athletic Names Bengals as 'Underrated' Team Entering 2024 Season

Cincinnati has high expectations this coming season.

CINCINNATI — The Athletic's Mike Jones released his underrated and overrated NFL teams for the upcoming season and he has people sleeping on the Bengals.

They largely return the core roster pieces for another run at a Super Bowl in the coming months.

"With a healthy Joe Burrow, the return of top receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, an upgraded offensive line (a pressing area of need), and a reimagined offense after the elevation of quarterbacks coach Dan Pitcher to coordinator — the Bengals seem to have a good shot at reclaiming their spot among the AFC’s elite," Jones wrote. "They might pose the biggest threat to the Kansas City Chiefs’ quest to win a third straight Super Bowl."

Burrow is still the only active NFL quarterback to beat Patrick Mahomes in the playoffs.
