Cincinnati Bengals Lineman Gets Nice Bonus Thanks to NFL's Performance-Based Pay Program
CINCINNATI — Bengals left guard Cordell Volson was awarded a bonus of $905,972 on Monday thanks to the NFL's Performance-Based Pay Program. He started all 17 games for the Bengals last season and was on the field for 1,088 snaps according to Pro Football Reference.
The Performance-Based Pay program is designed to pay players that have exceeded their salaries based on playing time. It's why there are plenty of fourth rounders like Volson, along with a plethora of players drafted in rounds 5-7 and multiple players that went undrafted.
Volson was the fourth-highest earner on the list. This means he'll make an extra $900k for the 2024 season. It is a cash expense for the Bengals, but won't impact their cap.
