CINCINNATI — ESPN's Jeremy Fowler doesn't expect Cincinnati to make a move at the trade deadline (per usual), but his colleague Ben Solak does think they could benefit from adding Raiders defensive tackle Adam Butler.

The 30-year-old has 28 tackles this season in seven games.

"If the Bengals are indeed adding at the trade deadline, it must mean they're making a playoff push ... which must mean their run defense needs immediate reinforcements," Solak wrote. "Enter Butler, who is on a cheap one-year deal and is good for 40 or so snaps per game with some splashy run defense. Exactly what the doctor ordered."

Fowler is pretty convinced Cincinnati won't be doing anything to boost its chances of making a Super Bowl run this season, unlike the reigning champion Chiefs, who just added Deandre Hopkins for a fifth-round pick. Or the Bills, who landed Amari Cooper via trade last week.

"The Bengals aren't on my bingo card for a splash move at the deadline," Fowler wrote. "The offense is stabilized, the offensive line is capable and the defense appears to have what it needs. Teams have had interest in Tee Higgins, but with Cincy still a playoff contender, shipping him out is questionable -- especially with his free agency contract destined to net the Bengals a decent midround compensatory pick."
