Sources: Joe Burrow Throwing Regularly, Continues to Make Progress Following Wrist Surgery
CINCINNATI — Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has started throwing, league sources confirm. The Bengals' star remains on track to make a full recovery after undergoing wrist surgery in November.
It's a major step in the right direction for the Bengals' star. He's still not 100%, but the fact that he's throwing a football is noteworthy.
Burrow plans on participating in Cincinnati's offseason program in May. He's expected to increase the frequency of throwing and the intensity between now and then. He hasn't had any grip or strength issues in his right hand/wrist, which is a positive sign.
The 27-year-old has been lifting for more than a month. Video has emerged of him gripping and lifting dumbbells with his right hand—another indicator that he's progressing well.
This is a huge offseason for Burrow and the Bengals. He missed seven games last season after suffering the wrist injury in Baltimore on Thursday Night Football. Cincinnati finished 9-8, but missed the playoffs for the first time since Burrow's rookie season.
