Bengals 2023 Schedule Shouldn't Be Impacted Much By New Thursday Night Football Rule Change
CINCINNATI — The NFL approved a rule change allowing the league to flex Thursday Night Football matchups in Weeks 13-17.
That means the Bengals or any other team could play a second Thursday night game this season.
Cincinnati is already headed to Baltimore to play on Thursday Night Football in Week 11. That means that only a Bengals home game would be flexed into the Thursday night window. NFL teams can only play one road game on Thursday Night Football per season.
Cincinnati heads to Jacksonville in Week 13 to play the Jaguars on Monday Night Football. That means they won't be flexed into the Thursday night game that week or in Week 14 since it's just three days after their matchup in Jacksonville.
The Bengals also play the Steelers and Chiefs on the road in Weeks 16-17. That means the only potential Thursday night flex would be a home matchup against the Vikings in Week 15.
The rule change could impact some teams, but the Bengals only have one game that would realistically be eligible for the new Thursday night flex option this season.
