Bengals Sign Familiar Face With Joe Burrow Out Due to Appendectomy

Burrow is expected to miss a few weeks.

CINCINNATI — The Bengals signed quarterback Drew Plitt on Wednesday morning according to NFL insider Aaron Wilson. 

Plitt participated in Cincinnati's annual local player pre-draft workout in April. The Ball State alum attended Loveland High School, which is a suburb of Cincinnati. 

The move makes sense after Joe Burrow had his appendix taken out. The star quarterback is expected to miss a week or two of training camp. 

Brandon Allen, Jake Browning and Plitt will serve as the Bengals' quarterbacks until Burrow is fully recovered. 

The Bengals released cornerback John Brannon to make room for Plitt on the 90-man roster. Cincinnati's first training camp practice is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
