Breaking: Ja'Marr Chase Agrees to Record-Setting Contract Extension With Cincinnati Bengals

CINCINNATI — Done deal.
The Bengals have agreed to a four-year, $161 million extension with star wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase. The contract includes $112 million guaranteed according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
The 25-year-old becomes the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history. He's under contract through the 2029 season.
We reported that the Bengals were finalizing extensions with both Higgins and Chase. And now both deals are done.
Chase became the fifth player since the merger to win the NFL's triple crown. He led the league in receptions (127), receiving yards (1,708) and receiving touchdowns (17).
The Bengals picked Chase with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Since then, he helped Cincinnati reach Super Bowl LVI. They also had back-to-back appearances in the AFC Championship Game in 2021 and 2022.
"He's a key player. Next to Joe, he's our next one," Bengals President Mike Brown said last July. "He knows it, we know it. This [contract talks] may take a while. We are gonna bend over backwards to get it done. I can't tell you when, though."
The "when" is now. Chase has agreed to his deal. Both Joe Burrow and Chase are under contract through the 2029 season.
