CINCINNATI — Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase didn't practice on Thursday and is hoping to agree to a long-term extension before the start of the 2024 season.

Cincinnati hosts New England on Sunday, Sept. 10 at 1 p.m. ET.

Bengals legend Chad Johnson came to Chase's defense on social media when one fan said the 24-year-old should play on his current contract.

"He’s NOT playing on a minimum wage contract based on what he’s done & going to continue to do," Johnson tweeted. "Top 3 receiver in the NFL wake the f--- up Mark."

Plenty of Bengals fans have been critical of Chase in recent days. Johnson clearly has his back.

Time will tell if the Bengals will reach a long-term deal with the Pro Bowler. The clock is ticking.
