Colts Trading Carson Wentz to Commanders in Exchange for Multiple Draft Picks

Wentz spent one season in Indianapolis.

The Colts are trading Carson Wentz to the Commanders in exchange for a package of draft picks that includes two third-round selections according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Washington will take on the rest of Wentz's contract. The former Pro Bowler is entering year two of a four-year, $128 million deal, but the contract is only guaranteed for the 2022 season.

Wentz completed 62.4% of his passes for 3,563 yards, 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions last season. The Colts finished 9-8 and missed the playoffs.

Does this deal mean Indianapolis is going to rebuild? Will they opt to trade some of their other proven players or do they like some of the young quarterbacks that will be available in the draft?

They already made the decision to let left tackle Eric Fisher test the free agent market. The former Pro Bowler could be on the Bengals' radar.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network is reporting that the Colts are expected to pursue a trade for 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garroppolo. They have plenty of cap space to use in free agency.
