Report: Drew Brees to Retire After Postseason

The 42-year-old hasn't made an official announcement

CINCINNATI — Saints star quarterback Drew Brees is expected to retire at the conclusion of the 2020 season according to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports.

“Tonight will be the last game he plays at the Superdome,” Glazer said on the Fox pregame show. “And whenever his last game is, if they lose tonight, if they lose next week, that will be the last game he plays in the NFL. Drew Brees will be done. That’s it. Tom Brady will continue. Drew Brees, this will be his last game in the Superdome.”

The Saints are playing Brady's Bucs on Sunday night in New Orleans. The winner will travel to Green Bay to take on the Packers next week in the NFC Championship Game.

Brees, 42, completed 275-of-390 (70.5%) passes for 2,942 yards, 24 touchdowns and six interceptions in 12 games this season. He missed a month after suffering broken ribs and a collapsed lung.

The Saints were 3-point favorites entering Sunday's matchup against the Buccaneers. They beat Tampa Bay twice during the regular season.

Brees could always have a change of heart, but it sounds like Sunday will be his final home game.
