CINCINNATI — Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green signed his franchise tender on Friday, which means he'll report to training camp on time.

The seven-time Pro Bowler has been plagued by injuries in recent seasons. He missed all of 2019 with an ankle issue.

Green believes he's still an elite player, but knows he needs to stay healthy if he's going to re-establish himself as one of the NFL's best.

The Bengals placed the franchise tag on Green this offseason because they wanted rookie quarterback Joe Burrow to have plenty of weapons.

They drafted Clemson wide receiver Tee Higgins with the No. 33 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Tyler Boyd has had back-to-back 1,000-yard receiving seasons speedster John Ross has flashed his potential when healthy.

The Bengals wide receiver room is arguably the most talented position group on the team.

Green, who will be 32 on July 31, can't wait to take the field with his teammates

"Aw man. I get excited just thinking about it," Green said on Friday. "I just talked to T.B. (Tyler Boyd) a couple of minutes ago. When John (Ross), Tee (Higgins), T.B., A.E. (Alex Erickson), (Auden) Tate — man, that whole receiving corps — it’s going to be fun. It’s going to be fun, man. We’re going to definitely push each other to be better. That’s really going to help our success as a team."

With Joe Mixon and Giovani Bernard at running back, the Bengals have some of the best skill players in the NFL.

It could take time for them to get on the same page since they haven't worked out together, but the Bengals offense should be fun to watch this season.
