Khalid Kareem Cleared to Practice, Bengals' Pass Rush Could Get a Boost

This is great news for the defensive line.

CINCINNATI — The Bengals' pass rush has been better this season, but they could use another edge rusher.

Help could be on the way.

Defensive end Khalid Kareem was cleared by the team and is expected to return to practice on Wednesday. The second-year player was placed on injured reserve with a shoulder injury last month.

Kareem had 19 tackles and one sack last season as a rookie. The Bengals selected him in the fifth-round (147th overall) in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Cincinnati has three weeks to move Kareem to the 53-man roster. If he's healthy and ready to contribute, he could return as soon as this week against the Lions. If not, the Bengals could give him a week or two of practice before bringing him back.

The Bengals' defense is currently 8th in the NFL with 13 sacks. They finished last in the league with 17 sacks in 2020.
