National Personality Says Ja'Marr Chase Will Want More Money Than Bengals Are Willing to Pay

CINCINNATI — The Bengals seem confident that they can get a long-term deal done with Ja'Marr Chase this offseason.
The star receiver won the triple crown—leading the NFL in receptions (127), yards (1,708) and touchdowns (17).
Will the Bengals make him the highest-paid receiver in the NFL? Duke Tobin says they're prepared to do, but Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk isn't buying it.
"The Bengals always seem to be behind the times, when it comes to taking a crowbar to Mike Brown’s piggy bank," Florio wrote.
That article was accompanied by this tweet: "How much will Ja'Marr Chase want on a long-term deal? Whatever the number, it will surely be more than the Bengals will be willing to pay."
The Bengals have to get the Chase deal done this offseason. Florio's article is at least partially right.
The Bengals were close to a long-term extension with the star receiver last September, but the deal fell apart over contract structure and guaranteed money.
Joe Burrow made it clear he wants Chase—and other teammates—to get paid by the Bengals this offseason. It's reasonable to expect them to pay Chase and also sign Tee Higgins and Trey Hendrickson to contract extensions. Will it happen?
That remains to be seen.
These national narratives are only going to get louder if the Bengals don't sign Chase in the near future.
