CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati Bengals were one of four teams that claimed defensive tackle Phidarian Mathis.

The Texans and Lions also claimed him, but the Jets landed Mathis because they had the highest waiver priority.

Mathis, 26, is a former second round pick that was released by the Commanders earlier this week. He has 25 tackles in 23 career games.

Ironically, the Bengals need the Jets to win this week to have any chance of making the playoffs.
