Report: Bengals 'Recently' Back in Contact With Trey Hendrickson Amidst Wide Receiver Deals

CINCINNATI — Three down, one to go.
Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has seen three of the four players he stumped for in recent months get new contracts (Tee Higgins, Ja'Marr Chase, and Mike Gesicki). Now only star edge rusher Trey Hendrickson remains on the board for a new deal.
Things are seemingly trending toward him staying in Cincinnati after the market cooled on sending the Bengals a first-round pick and more for him in recent weeks. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported on Sunday that the Bengals and Hendrickson's representatives have been in contact on a new deal recently.
The 30-year-old edge rusher is slated to make $16 million this fall in the final year of his extension with Cincinnati signed in 2023.
"Next up: Trying to work out a deal with Trey Hendrickson," Pelissero noted in his report that Cincinnati has had the WR deals done for a few days. "The sides have been in contact recently."
There are no good replacements for Hendrickson left in free agency and no clear baton-taker on the roster. Cincinnati's best path to winning Super Bowl LX involves Hendrickson's services.
