Steelers Land William Jackson III in Trade With Commanders

The veteran is coming back to the AFC North.

CINCINNATI — William Jackson III is back in the AFC North. The Steelers have agreed to a trade with the Commanders to land the veteran cornerback according to Ian Rapoport.

He signed a three-year, $42 million contract with the Commanders prior to the 2021 season. He was hoping to be used as a true man-to-man cornerback and hasn't had much success in Washington's zone scheme. He asked for a trade last month.

The Bengals took Jackson in the first round (24th overall) in the 2016 NFL Draft. He spent five seasons in Cincinnati, finishing with 150 tackles, 41 passes defensed and three interceptions in 59 games.
