Tyler Boyd Shares Details About Gruesome Finger Injury, Hoping to Play Against Buccaneers

The star wide-out got injured on the second play of the game in Cincinnati's Week 14 win over Cleveland.

CINCINNATI — Tyler Boyd is hoping to play on Sunday in Tampa Bay, despite suffering a gruesome finger injury in the Bengals' 23-10 win over the Browns in Week 14.

Boyd's finger was dislocated, but it wasn't that simple.

"It broke through the skin," Boyd said on Thursday. "It wasn't just a finger bend. The bone came out, but the good thing about it was no torn ligaments, nothing, just dislocated. That was it. Just put it back it, stitch it up, ready to go."

It's unclear if the Bengals training staff will clear Boyd for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers. He's been a limited participant in practice this week. He can catch the ball, but not without pain.

The veteran brushed it off.

"Football is pain," Boyd said. "You're gonna get hit. You're gonna wake up the next morning sore anyway."

Boyd has 45 receptions for 655 yards and four touchdowns this season.
