Zac Taylor Offers Up Big Praise For Ted Karras: He's 'Going To Be a Coach Some Day'
CINCINNATI — The Bengals added three veteran offensive linemen in free agency this offseason and they're already noticing a big change in how that room operates.
Starting center Ted Karras is leading the way. The veteran received big praise from his head coach on Tuesday.
"Ted is going to be a coach someday," Zac Taylor said. "He's not only a really good football player who's won a lot of championships and knows what it takes. But he maintains a very high standard for himself and others and that's really exciting."
Karras, 29, signed a three-year, $18 million contract in March. The veteran is a two-time Super Bowl champion. He spent the first four seasons of his career blocking for Tom Brady in New England.
Karras' leadership was on full display during Tuesday's open locker room. He got in a three-point stance during a conversation with Cordell Volson. Karras was helping the rookie with his technique.
It's just one example of the veteran impacting the Bengals' young offensive linemen.
Karras' presence might've been overlooked a bit with the additions of Alex Cappa and La'el Collins, but he's already establishing himself as a leader on a team that needs to be much better in the trenches this season.
