Zac Taylor Made Right Decision To Go For It on Fourth Down Against Chiefs

Cincinnati is 8-8 following the loss. They were officially eliminated from playoff contention.

CINCINNATI — Bengals head coach Zac Taylor decided to go for it on 4th-and-1 from the Chiefs 6-yard line on Cincinnati's opening possession of the second half on Sunday.

The attempt failed, as Joe Mixon was tackled three yards behind the line of scrimmage. That was the fourth and final time the Bengals would get within scoring range. They had a 17-13 lead at the time, but ultimately lost 25-17.

Despite not converting on fourth down, Taylor made the right decision according to ESPN analytics.

Going for it increased their chances of winning by 3.4%. Considering the Chiefs stacked the box, an audible to a passing play would've been ideal, but it was the right decision, even if it didn't work out.
