Buffalo Bills Super Bowl Hopes? 'Window Is Open!' Dion Dawkins on Stefon Diggs, Josh Allen
There's no beating around the bush, this offseason has not been kind to the Buffalo Bills.
First, the Bills fell victim to a massive cap crunch that led to the loss of key players such as Mitch Morse and Tre'Davious White. Then came free agency, where the Bills saw the likes of Gabe Davis and Leonard Floyd sign with other teams. Most recently, the Bills made the difficult decision to trade away star receiver Stefon Diggs, incurring a huge dead cap hit this season in return for more flexibility in the future.
With the Bills losing so many key players this offseason, many have begun counting them out and even declaring their contending window to be closed. For offensive tackle Dion Dawkins, though, that couldn't be further from the truth.
"That window is always open when you got guys like me and you got guys like Josh [Allen] and you got guys like Shaquille [Lawson] and Ed [Oliver], and when you got a team of guys that lead with good hearts, good athleticism, good football and when we put on that helmet and them pads on and that jersey and it says Bills, that window is always open," Dawkins said on "The Jim Rome Show." "It's always open. Like it could be a little bit more, but nah, it's open and it'd always be open.
The Bills certainly have their work cut out for them, as they still have to deal with the many contenders in the AFC with a diminished roster. One thing's for sure, though, the team is still very confident in its ability to compete.
