Josh Allen Trade from 'Toilet Bowl' Buffalo Bills to Giants?! 'Delusional' New York Media Hot Take

WFAN's Evan Roberts mocked the Buffalo Bills in the aftermath of the Stefon Diggs trade, but the shock jock severely underestimates Josh Allen's ability to carry a team.

In this story:

There's delusional, and then there's the latest hot take from WFAN radio personality Evan Roberts.

After news of Wednesday's Stefon Diggs trade broke, the feeble-minded chatterbox delivered an astonishingly nonsensical opinion regarding Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills. Roberts suggested that the New York Giants should propose a trade for Bills' quarterback Josh Allen because the three-time NFL MVP finalist "doesn’t want to live in Buffalo anymore."

"[Giants' GM] Joe Schoen, pick up the phone and call your friends in Buffalo because they're having a garage sale," ranted Roberts.

Doing his best shock jock impersonation, Roberts wasn't done. He proceeded to fire a cheap shot Allen's significant other, singer/actress Hailee Steinfeld, and equate the good people of Western New York with human excrement.

"Joshy has a girlfriend who would probably rather shop on Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City than waste time in that toilet bowl known as Buffalo," said Roberts to his listening audience.

His first mistake, outside of tastelessly dissing Allen's companion along with the people of Buffalo, is interpreting the Bills' offseason activity as a "rebuild." How can a team with a franchise quarterback in his prime years be considered as rebuilding?

The Bills are simply ridding themselves of aging veterans with hefty price tags. It's a youth movement to ensure salary cap flexibility in 2025.

Meanwhile, Buffalo returns eight offensive starters and eight defensive starters from a team that won a fourth consecutive AFC East division crown this past January. In Roberts's imaginary world, however, that's called a "garage sale."

Also, the idea that Allen wants out of Buffalo is complete fiction. The man has done nothing but embrace the region and its fans since being drafted.

Not to mention, what general manager in his right mind would trade away a soon-to-be 28-year-old franchise quarterback under contract at less than $50 million per year? According to Spotrac, Allen's deal carries a lower average annual value than that of Deshaun Watson, Joe Burrow, Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson.

As for the hope that Buffalo has fallen behind the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets in the AFC East power rankings due to the Diggs loss, Roberts shouldn't let the facts get in the way.

"We've already gotten worse. Let's get even worser," said Roberts mocking the Bills' latest decision.

Allen finished as the NFL leader in total yards and total touchdowns this past season despite Diggs, who did not have more than 87 receiving yards in any game after Week 6, fading down the stretch.

Before Diggs arrived, Allen led a lesser roster to 10 wins and a playoff berth in 2019. As long as the quarterback stays healthy, another 10+ wins are on the horizon even after getting "worser."
