Stefon Diggs Final Tweets on Josh Allen: Buffalo Bills Blockbuster Trade Warning?
Stefon Diggs' trade to the Houston Texans came rather suddenly, but the Buffalo Bills receiver was at least relatively nice enough to give Western New York fans a little bit of time to get used to life without his services.
It was perhaps hard for anyone to take the first two days of the month seriously on social media with viral April Fools' Day pranks more prevalent and harder to detect than ever. The reality of a Tuesday night post from Diggs' X account proved all too sobering less than 24 hours later.
On Tuesday evening, Diggs countered a prior respondent to a post from former NFL quarterback/ESPN analyst Robert Griffin III. Griffin was pondering how intertwined Josh Allen's success was to Diggs, leading a viewer to render the receiver as "(not) essential to (Allen's) success."
“You sure?” Diggs cryptically replied, indirectly foreshadowing a future where he wasn't there to supposedly serve as Allen's life preserver.
Western New York, and the football world with, is about to find out.
With Diggs gone (and Gabe Davis with him), Allen is left without an established top target in the receivers' room beyond tight ends Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox. Khalil Shakir and Justin Shorter, fifth-round picks in back-to-back seasons, are the top incumbent options while Washington Commanders import Curtis Samuel would perhaps be the top target if the season began tomorrow.
Diggs won't have to wait long to see how essential he is to Allen's professional progress, as the Bills are due for a visit to NRG Stadium later this fall.
