Bills' 'Big-Game Gabe' Davis: Pressure in Contract Year?

In a contract year, Gabe Davis needs to prove himself as a solid second option at wide receiver for the Buffalo Bills.

Buffalo Bills receiver Gabe Davis has the potential to open things up offensively for Josh Allen and the Bills offense. Since his historical game against the Chiefs two postseasons ago, Davis has had a bit of a disappointing stretch.

As a wideout who once earned his nickname "Big-Game Gabe," Davis is going to have to find some consistency as the Bills' second option.

Realistically, when it comes to the offensive side of the ball, Davis could be the biggest X-factor to open up the offense to the level needed for the Bills to compete for a Super Bowl.

With Allen under center and Stefon Diggs being WR1, Davis will have to alleviate pressure off Diggs to allow the duo to better work in tandem.

This past season was Davis' third campaign with the Bills, and he started each of his 15 games played. His targets jumped from 63 to 93 from his second to third seasons, but his catch percentage is down 55.6 percent to 51.6 percent. He finished the season with 836 yards this past season.

If Davis can find some consistency on a game-by-game basis, the passing attack for the Bills will be that much better.

While a big season from Davis could exponentially help the team when it comes to competing from a Super Bowl, it's also a contract year for the 24-year-old. The former fourth-round pick could be due for a huge payday - in Buffalo or elsewhere - if he's able to combine his big games with consistency over the course of a season.

When it comes to scoring touchdowns, Davis has been a reliable weapon. He reeled in seven touchdowns in his rookie season, six touchdowns in Year 2 and seven touchdowns this past season. That suggests that "Big-Game Gabe'' can accomplish great things - and this would be a great time for him to do it.
