Bill Belichick Firing Future? New England Legend To Meet With Patriots' Robert Kraft

The future of the legendary Bill Belichick in New England surely won't be decided by Sunday's NFL Week 18 outcome against the visiting New York Jets.

But it might be determined some 24 hours later when the coach visits with owner Robert Kraft.

Belichick is reportedly scheduled to meet on Monday morning with Kraft with an agenda that may include the coach "having to convince (Kraft) that the reasons for this disastrous season are quickly repairable.'' ... and that Belichick should be able to stay on with the Pats.

Assuming that's what he wants - amid a mountain of rumors and "reports'' claiming to offer intel, Belichick is of course famously private (and frankly manipulative in what narratives his media pals offer up) - the landscape in the AFC East, where the Buffalo Bills co-exist with the Pats - could be in for a drastic overhaul.

This is Belichick's 24th year and the Patriots have never been so downtrodden. since 1992. They will finish last in the division. They have the worst offense in the league. How bare is the cupboard overseen by Belichick?

On Wednesday it was revealed that they were shut out in Pro Bowl voting for the first time since 2000.

To some degree, as beatable as the Pats have been in recent seasons, the Bills would surely - respectfully - like to see Belichick fade off into the sunset. During the best of times, the Pats ruled this division in ways that kept the Bills at bay.

Of course, Tom Brady ain't walkin' through that Gillette Stadium door.

What Belichick (and Kraft) build with their six Super Bowl titles was, by any measure, one of sports' greatest dynasties. If that is all over now, maybe with Belichick being fired or quitting or traded to another franchise (or retiring?)

That will be a sad time in New England. ... but a happy goodbye in Buffalo.
